TRICK OR TREAT!!

Wow...today was a busy day! Both kids had Halloween parties at their schools, then we headed to grandma's. As usual, she greeted the kids dressed in one of her crazy costumes. This year she was kinda scary, which really didn't go over too well with Emily (she cried until grandma took her mask off!). Then we were off to trick-or-treat around our neighborhood and then went to Mill Creek subdivision to trick-or-treat with the McKeowns. The Skeleton and Tinkerbell really scored big-time with all the LOOT tonight! We lost track of how much they actually ate and how much made it home. Now they are finally asleep... so Dad and Mom are going to check out what's in their bowls!! Happy Halloween 2007!

It's not pretty...but it's done!

Another annual pumpkin carving is done and over. As usual, it was mostly dad doing the carving and mom getting her hands inside to pull out all the "cheese" as Emily kept calling it. As you can see, dad had a hard time following the outline of the face that the kids drew. It looks much better (and scarier!) in the DARK!!!!

Pickin our Pumpkin

Our annual trek to the Apple Barn to pick our pumpkins didn't go so well...they were ALL gone! They only had small ones left, so we headed over to Farmer's Market by Hobby Lobby. We all pretty much agreed on the same one (which was a nice change this year, instead of each liking 4 different ones!) Tonight, we CARVE!

Busy Saturday....

Saturday morning was Adam's last soccer game. They had a really great season. We're glad it's over though, because those early morning games have been pretty cold the last couple of weeks! After soccer, Emily had a birthday party to go to at Chuck E. Cheese for her good friend, Sydney. Then she and I went to the circus with our neighbors while Adam and Rob went to the Jr. Blues game. We all got home around 9:30 and went straight to bed! Here's hoping today is a little quieter.....

BOYS WEEKEND

Two weekends ago, Adam spent the weekend in Wheaton with Ethan, and Kelsey came to Springfield. I already posted pictures from the girls weekend, but just got the pictures tonight of the boys. Aaron & Colleen took them to the United Center for a Bulls scrimmage game and they got Kirk Hinrich's autograph. Each of the boys also got to shoot a free-throw, which was totally cool. To see Adam standing on the court where Rob and I watched SO many Bulls games through-out the '90's, and on the same spot where Michael Jordan stood so many times, was pretty amazing. I know they had a blast...because Adam didn't want to come home. Next time, we get the boys and the girls go north. Although I don't know what we'll do in Springfield that will top that weekend!!

HALLOWEEN PRE-VIEW

Adam's friend Adrian is spending the weekend with us while his mom is out of town. So last night we took the kids to Washington Park for the "Pumpkin Spectacular". There were 2007 lighted pumpkins and trick-or-treating for the kids. The pumpkins were displayed all around the Carrillon and it was really beautiful. Plus it gave the kids a chance to get another use out of their costumes!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDMA!

We had a fun night celebrating grandma's birthday. Dinner at the Pasta House, then back to our house for cake, ice cream and presents. Adam wrote in his card that she was an "awesome" grandma. We couldn't agree more! Happy Birthday Mom & Grandma!

Saturday at home...

I think we were all ready for the weekend after such a busy week! Unfortunately, it started raining just as Adam's soccer game ended this morning, so we did some shopping, rented some games and movies and are looking forward to family movie night tonight. Who has the popcorn??

Weekend with Kelsey

This weekend we did a "kid switch" and met Colleen & Aaron 1/2 way to Wheaton on Saturday to send Adam up there to spend time with Ethan and bring Kelsey down here. Emily was thrilled to have her cousin all to herself. The girls played a lot of barbies and got out the playdough. Sunday we went to China Town, shopping at the mall and even did a little scrapbooking! It was a fun girls weekend in Springfield! I'll post pictures from the boys weekend when I get them from Colleen!

World Wide Day of Play

This past Saturday was National World Wide Day of Play. Here in Springfield, the American Heart Association sponsored a Day of Play at the Nelson Center. Janet and I took our kids to it from 10-2. They participated in almost all of the "stations" including a bicycle obstacle course, nature walk, jump-roping, kickball, disc golf, soccer, shuffleboard and ice skating. The animal rescue squad was also there with several of their dogs for us to pet. They also had a lizard, turtle and snake on display. Emily was the first one to pet the snake (ewwww!) It was also her first time on ice skates...and she did great...didn't fall down once! It was a fun day of play for all of us!
