FRIENDS, FUN & A LITTLE BIT OF SUN

This afternoon we had the Kreidlers, Turners & Stehns over to swim. Since the mom's spent Friday night and all day/night Saturday scrapbooking at the Convention Center, it was nice to spend some time with the kids (and hubby's!) We found out Joe's Pizza is closed on Sundays (sorry again, Paul!) so we went out for dinner to Xoxochmilco...which seems to have become the "official" restaurant for our group!

GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN

Even though today started out cloudy and a little rainy, it was hot and humid and the sun finally came out just as Emily's girls pool party started - yeah! She invited six of her friends, Sydney, Paige, Megan, Morgan and Caedyn. Sydney and Paige's sisters, Jillian and Kaleigh, got to stay for the party too. There was a lot of screaming and splashing and popsicle-eating and I think a great time was had by all the girls.

PUPPYSITTING WEEKEND

Papa and DD dropped off Molly Moo this morning on their way to Rockford for Papa's high school reunion. It's been almost a year since we've had a dog in the house, so were excited to be able to have her around this weekend!

DIAMONDBACKS 12, PADRES 9

Well, not the outcome we were hoping for, but overall the guys played a really good game. Especially considering we played a team we didn't face at all during the season (they were one of the rain out games). Plus they were 10 and 11 year olds in their 2nd year of kid pitch (this is our 1st year). Adam did an okay job pitching, but struggled at the plate. Walked a few times and got thrown out at 1st twice. I think he's actually handling the loss better than mom and dad! Oh well, on the bright side...we have five free weeks until soccer!

PADRES 15, ORIOLES 6

Game #1 is history! Oh yeah! We had an awesome game tonight. Adam walked twice, got one double, one single and got thrown out at 1st once (but did have an RBI on that play). He also had a tremendous throw from left field almost to home. Not sure who we play tomorrow night, but Adam's pitching, so cross your fingers!

FACEBOOK.COM - NEWBIE 101

Yesterday I braved the strange new world of Facebook.com (thanks, Amy K., and yes, I'm already addicted!) Although I'm not sure what the heck I'm doing, I did manage to upload some pictures from our Cancun trip and a few other fun things. Check out my page at www.facebook.com. If anyone else has a page, let me know...I don't have many "friends" yet!!

GAME ON!

Game #1 is finally tonight...6:00 p.m. at Rotary Park!
Go PADRES!!!!!

TOURNAMENT RAIN OUT

Once again, rain forced cancellation of baseball games! We were all pretty disappointed that the SSBA Minor League Tournament was cancelled yesterday, and therefore, the second round of games today, but just got word that they may re-schedule the games for this week. Our team played so well this season, that they have a pretty good shot at the title. Of course, that may just be wishful thinking on the part of Mom and Dad, but we'll keep you posted!

SUPRISE VISIT!

This afternoon, my friend Cindy from work stopped by with her golden retriever, Katie. I've told the kids all about Katie and the funny things she does. Like Cindy leaves the TV on Animal Planet all day for her. Katie also has her own bedroom (and bed!), which she shares with the other golden in the house, Ellie, and in the winter, sleeps covered up with a blanket. I love playing bunco at Cindy's, but it's hard to roll the dice when I've got one hand on each of the dogs all night! Since Sophie died, the kids and I have been starved for some dog attention, so it was nice to have Katie around for a little while today. Although we still haven't convinced Rob we need another dog...but give us time :)

DAY AT THE ZOO/NIGHT IN MARISSA

Saturday morning we took off for the St. Louis Zoo, even though Adam was battling two ear infections (in one ear!) He said he still wanted to go and seemed to do well most of the day. About 3:30 he was pretty tired, so we headed to Papa's lake house in Marissa to play with the new puppy, have dinner, and watch the fireworks from the boat. They put on an amazing display for such a small town - we were very impressed - and they were just gorgeous over the lake. We took the boat out again Sunday morning for a quick spin before heading home. Overall, it was a pretty nice weekend.

Emily would have ridden the Merry Go Round 100 times if we had let her! Thank goodness she is tall enough to ride by herself now.

Taking a break for lunch at the Lakeside Cafe.

The kids wanted to ride the train, so we hopped on and went for a nice (but expensive!) ride around the park.

Papa's house - that's DD waiving from the deck!

Rob, the kids and the new puppy Molly. She is a real sweetie, but her little teeth are like razor blades!

Out on the boat with Papa on Sunday morning.

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!

This morning we were up early to go see the parade. You would think it was Halloween instead of the 4th of July with all the candy the kids got! Going downtown this afternoon to check out the festivities there, then we're going out to watch the fireworks at Knight's Action Park. Hopefully Emily won't be watching from the van!

And here are a few 4th of July pics from years gone by.....
