LET'S GO CUBBIES!

The start of our vacation! We spent Saturday night in Wheaton and we all headed down to Wrigley Field Sunday morning. Kelsey and Emily made their own Cubs shirts which turned out really cute. The morning started out raining, but as soon as we got to the field the sun came out and there was a great breeze off the lake. Cubs lost, but it was a great afternoon at the ball park!
Waiting for the L to get here to take us to Wrigley

SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL!

We love going to the Muni on summer nights! I was really anxious to see Seussical because I had heard how good it was and used to love these books when I was little. We took Adam's friend Blake with us and ran in to lots of people we knew, including Adam's 5th grade teacher, Mr. Niemeyer, who was playing in the band. It was a great night!

OUR LITTLE BOY MOWS THE LAWN!

One advantage of the kids getting older is that they can help with chores around the house! Adam had been bugging us to let him mow the yard, so one Saturday morning Rob showed him how to do it. It was funny because some of the neighbors came outside to watch and were cheering him on. His lines were a little crooked, but not bad for his first time!

AFTERNOON AT THE LAKE

The McKeowns invited us to go boating one afternoon and it was a beautiful day to be out on the lake!

Rob and Robert

Emily and I hosted another Brownie Troop pool party at our house in July. We cooked burgers, hot dogs and everyone brought a dish to share. All the girls had a fun time swimming and playing water balloon toss (although it sure took a lot longer for Rob, Adam and I to fill all those balloons than it did for 14 brownie girls to pop them!) A fun hot day of fun was had by all!

Emily and Sydney

The McKeowns ended up staying for dinner too, so Melanie, Emily and Maddie enjoyed the pool all by themselves after everyone else left.

SPRINGFIELD CAPITOLS BASEBALL 2010

This season Adam got to pitch more...which he really enjoyed. We were glad to see that all those pitching lessons we got him at the end of last summer really paid off. He had several strike outs, walked some and only hit a few batters! It was pretty nerve-racking watching him, but we enjoyed every minute and were very proud of him all summer long!! It was kind of sad when the last game ended because this is Adam's last summer with this team. Most of these boys have been together since they were 7 and they originally started out as the Giants in coach-pitch league. Then when we moved up to kid-pitch, we became the Padres. This past year we became the Capitols. Next year Adam will try-out for his middle school team, so hopefully he will continue playing baseball and make some new friends and teammates too!

Our team...Tommy Drake, Adam, Charlie Costa, Garrett Vance, Jackson Lanzotti, Coach Handley, Brock Williams, Gannon Handley, Danny Collins, Riley Hulligan and Michael Groesch

4TH OF JULY

The 4th of July weekend was spent mostly in the pool. We were lucky this year to have sunny days, with only a little rain for the fireworks. Emily and I picked up Maggie and Molly on Monday while Papa and DD go to Colorado for the week. All three dogs REALLY wanted to go swimming, but we kept the gate closed and were successful at keeping them out.
