SPRINGFIELD CAPITOLS BASEBALL 2010

This season Adam got to pitch more...which he really enjoyed. We were glad to see that all those pitching lessons we got him at the end of last summer really paid off. He had several strike outs, walked some and only hit a few batters! It was pretty nerve-racking watching him, but we enjoyed every minute and were very proud of him all summer long!! It was kind of sad when the last game ended because this is Adam's last summer with this team. Most of these boys have been together since they were 7 and they originally started out as the Giants in coach-pitch league. Then when we moved up to kid-pitch, we became the Padres. This past year we became the Capitols. Next year Adam will try-out for his middle school team, so hopefully he will continue playing baseball and make some new friends and teammates too!

Our team...Tommy Drake, Adam, Charlie Costa, Garrett Vance, Jackson Lanzotti, Coach Handley, Brock Williams, Gannon Handley, Danny Collins, Riley Hulligan and Michael Groesch

4TH OF JULY

The 4th of July weekend was spent mostly in the pool. We were lucky this year to have sunny days, with only a little rain for the fireworks. Emily and I picked up Maggie and Molly on Monday while Papa and DD go to Colorado for the week. All three dogs REALLY wanted to go swimming, but we kept the gate closed and were successful at keeping them out.

TAYLORVILLE COOK-OUT

Saturday night Jeff and Stephanie invited everyone to their house for a 4th of July cook-out. We played a fun game of wiffle ball (Powers v. Robinsons) and then on to bocce ball.

Stella wasn't sure if she liked Indy...she barked at her like she was 50x her size, not the other way around!

Emily carried Stella around all night!

STEPH & INDY VISIT

Aunt Stephanie and Indy came to Springfield to visit. It was fun having them here all week!

Indy loves her Grandma...

and just couldn't get enough love from both kids!!!

FATHER'S DAY 2010

Father's Day we spent ALL afternoon in the pool. Rob grilled steaks and crab legs for dinner. Grandma brought homeade potato salad and strawberry shortcake. The weather was beautiful and the pool was a perfect 86 degrees. Afterwards we opened presents and then played Grandma's new bean bag toss that she won golfing this week! It was a nice relaxing day!

ROB TURNS 45!!

Tonight we went to Cara's Mongolian BBQ to celebrate Rob's 45th birthday!! We were happy to have the McKeown's join us for dinner. Afterwards, we came home and opened presents. Adam wanted dad to have some new "cool" clothes, so that's what he got, along with a pair of shorts, running socks and a cover for his new grill. Happy birthday Rob!

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL

Today was not only the last day of school for the kids...it was the last day of elementary school for Adam. I thought I had gotten through my emotions about ten days ago while driving the kids to school one morning and realized there were "only 10 days left of school". Well that really got to me that day and I cried all the way to work thinking how fast these past six years have gone. This morning, however, I was just ready to get the day over and let summer officially begin. Then picking them up tonight after Scope it hit me again just how grown up my first born is. He will never again go to Dubois School. He will never again go to the Scope program (although that brings joy, not sadness!) and we will never again attend a parent/teacher conference for him at that school. As I am staying on as President of the PTO next year, it will be strange having only one child going to school there. And as excited as we are for Adam to start Lincoln Magnet in the Fall, I am very glad I have all summer to get used to the idea of him being in middle school! Today is definitely a milestone in his life, and Rob and I couldn't be more proud of him if we tried. He is such a great kid and we thank God everyday for choosing us as his parents!
This morning...bring on the last day already! Adam and a few of his friends
Emily and some girls after school
Goodbye Dubois (for summer anyway!)
I just had to find a picture of Adam's first day of kindergarten to compare to today's picture...
All grown up :(
